5 Easy Ways to Remove Gum from Clothing

Removing the chewing gum from clothes doesn’t have to be a stressful situation. With a little patience and a few common household items, you can erase the sticky substance from different materials without damaging your clothes. Here are 5 tried-and-true methods for removing gum from your clothes.

Freezing

Remove chewing gum from clothes by placing them in the freezer for a couple of hours. The chewing gum will freeze and fall off.

No space in the freezer? Lay ice cubes on the gum for 30 minutes. Move fabric to a flat surface and scrape off frozen gum with a dull knife.

Vinegar

Soak the chewing gum in white vinegar and let sit for a minute or two. Next, heat with a hair dryer until gum softens enough to remove.

Hairspray

Apply the hair spray onto the chewing gum and it will harden. Then just scrape the chewing gum off.

Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise will also remove chewing gum. Simply apply and work it in, gum softens and comes off easily.

Lemon Juice

All you have to do is just soak the fabric having gum in lemon juice and peel the gum off with a dull edge.
